Abstract
On the basis on the long experience in the design of gas tankers, this ecologic ship has been studied and developed with the purpose of carry LNG, with a dual fuel propulsion system. The ship is suitable for the navigation and distribution of gas in SECA areas, as well as in areas without on-shore regasification plants; the vaporizing system onboard unload the gas directly into the shore pipelines. The necessity to reach ports with limitations in the main dimensions (shallow water) and areas with wide navigable rivers network determined the choice of a twin screw twin skeg arrangement. The optimization of the hull forms allows to achieve a performance very close to a single screw arrangement; the advantages are the full redundancy of the propulsion system, the possibility to make maintenance to one of the two main engines and a very efficient slow steaming, for the lowest fuel consumption.
Compared to the traditional gas tankers, this ship is arranged with a semi press cargo containment system (6 barg), bilobe tanks independent C type (9% nickel), without the necessity to burn the boil-off gas for a longer time than what requested by the present Rules, giving to the ship a wide flexibility.
The cargo plant can load and unload in the liquid phase with and without the vapour return line; furthermore is possible to vaporize and unload at the max pressure of 100 barg and max temperature of 0°C and at the pressure of 8÷10 barg in the range of 0÷60°C of temperature.
