Abstract


Decide to modernize Vespucci Ship has been a technically hard and much debated choice inside the Italian Navy for the historical and emotional value of this ship, but at the end necessary to set the ship up to date. Once described constructive characteristics and operative requirements of the Italian Navy’s Training tall Ship, it will be reported the criteria adopted to define the new configuration of the distribution and propulsion systems in relation to the global platform retrofitting. Then, will be described the peculiarities of the innovative architecture chosen in relation to ship operative profile, and will be outlined the system engineering activities to be carried out to guarantee a safe and efficient plant operation and to benefit from technical innovations adopted.
