Design of a modular mission bay for a Multirole Patrol Vessel
Last modified: 2015-05-21
Abstract
The Italian Navy is asked to be able, more often, to operate not only in a conflict but even in new scenarios as a disaster relief scenario. That’s the main reason why all the new ships are to be designed in order to allow:
- The load/unload of modular shelters (mainly ISO BOX 10’ and 20’) configured as living quarters, staff room or hospital facilities;
- The launch and recovery of boat and RHIBS of different sizes (from 7 up to 11 m) up to Sea State 3.
In this paper the process followed to design the modular area of the new Italian Navy Multirole Patrol Vessel will be described: from the main requirements analysis to the handling systems definition.
